Drag Racing Guide

Drag racing is the skill spike in Drag Drive Simulator. ADV Gamers Team’s public loop lives at Sentul Track (Sentul Circuit): you interact with the blue zone, pick a mode, and run a short strip against the clock or against a pool. Pettarani Track in Makassar is the longer top-end exam. Surakarta city streets are not the competitive classroom even if they look fast at night.

Bring a bike you can afford to stall. Read getting started if you still own only a random expensive car, controls if clutch is fuzzy, and gear tuning if the bike peaks in the wrong place. RP rules for each mode sit in how to earn RP. The Guides Hub lists jobs and map pages if you arrived here first.

How to enter Sentul

Spawn, ride or teleport to Sentul, and interact (E on foot, or the on-screen prompt) with the blue Sentul Circuit zone. Two public modes matter:

  • Time Trial Drag Race
  • Tournament Drag Race

Any number of players in the 25-player server can join. You still launch alone against physics. Other people are extra noise, extra pools, and extra reasons not to redline.

Park with P in the staging area if you walk to a menu. Release parking before the lights. Spawn the race bike with the key icon; do not arrive in a Courier scooter unless that scooter is actually your tuned machine.

Time Trial — RP by distance per second

Time Trial pays RP based on distance covered per second. The run is short. Restage is fast. This is the mode that teaches dump, first-to-second shift, and whether your ladder is sane. It is also the mode that still pays when you lose to a ghost of your last self.

Use Time Trial to:

  • warm up after logging in
  • test a gear change from the tuning page
  • farm RP on a quiet server
  • practice mobile clutch pads without donating a Tournament pool

Do not treat a lucky Time Trial as proof you are ready for buy-ins. Look for a cluster of similar runs. If times swing wildly, you are inconsistent on green, not “unlucky with ping.”

Tournament — winner takes the pool

Tournament is the money mode. Entrants contribute, the winner takes the pool (the lion’s share). That formula punishes curiosity. If you are still dumping at redline, you are funding someone else’s limited bike.

Enter Tournament when:

  • the server is populated enough to make the pool worth the travel
  • your Time Trial cluster is tight
  • you can hit about 6000-8000 RPM without panic
  • first gear does not spin endlessly

Leave Tournament when the lobby is two people or when Independence event crowds turn the grid into a parking lot. Go run a job or a Time Trial instead of sitting in a dead buy-in.

Launch technique

The launch is the race. Everything after is housekeeping.

  1. Stage straight. Handbrake off. Parking off.
  2. Toggle M for manual clutch (or hold the mobile clutch pad).
  3. Build RPM to roughly 6000-8000. Vehicle sweet spots differ; redline is not a sweet spot.
  4. On green, dump clutch and feed throttle together.
  5. Shift up with E before the limiter flattens the pull.

Redline launches spin tires. You will feel the bike light up and go nowhere while a calmer dump leaves. Late dumps miss the hole shot. Early dumps before green are wasted heat. The launch checklist exists so you do not rewrite this paragraph in chat every night.

First-person (V) can help you see lights and the tach. Headlights (L) help you see the stripe at night. Neither replaces clutch timing.

Pettarani Track — longer top-end

Pettarani in Makassar City is where tall gears prove themselves. A Sentul-short ladder that peaked at the Circuit stripe will gasp here. A Pettarani-long ladder that never gets into power will feel sleepy back at Sentul. Do not pick one map and declare the bike “done.”

Use Pettarani after Sentul is consistent. Run a full pull, watch whether you actually reach the last gear, then decide if the high ratios need length. Road-race style systems on Pettarani still start with the same dump; they just give you more seconds to shift poorly.

Bring the same launch RPM. Players often raise RPM “because the track is longer.” Length does not change tire spin at green. Keep 6000-8000 and fix gears instead.

Tune for strip length, not for screenshots

Short strip (Sentul): emphasize short low gears, enough high gear to avoid an early limiter, clutch dump you could do half-asleep.

Long strip (Pettarani): keep the dump, lengthen the top of the ladder, shift on time so you are not stuck in a short third while the road keeps going.

City expansion roads (Surakarta / Slamet Riyadi) are for map knowledge and RideGo, not for proving a drag tune. If you only race friends down a boulevard, you will be surprised at Sentul’s lights.

Limited Independence vehicles from V1.1.8 still need this process. A rare model with a stock ladder is a trophy, not a trophy time. Check the Independence event page for how they drop, then tune them like any other bike.

Tournament etiquette on a 25-player server

Do not block the staging box with a parked truck. Do not honk people off the line with random E+P into top gear while they are trying to set clutch. Do not jump servers mid-countdown if you already entered a pool. If you false-start, own it and restage; blaming “mobile HUD” after you ignored controls helps nobody.

When the grid is full of event tourists, run Time Trial on a second pass or swap to Courier until the strip is a strip again. DDS is a roleplay game that happens to have a serious drag mode. You share the place with Baristas and RideGo cabs. Wave them off the lights; do not treat the Circuit as your private server unless you actually paid for one.

Leave the stripe with a note, not a vibe: which mode paid, whether first gear spun, and whether Pettarani is even on tonight’s plan. If the note says “spun,” you are not ready to raise buy-ins. If it says “peaked early,” you need the tuning ladder, not a new dealer. That is how public Sentul nights stay profitable instead of turning into donations.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Drag Drive Simulator questions.

How do I start a race at Sentul?

Go to Sentul Track, interact with the blue Sentul Circuit zone, and pick Time Trial or Tournament. Release parking before the lights.

What is the difference between Time Trial and Tournament?

Time Trial pays RP by distance per second and is the practice farm. Tournament puts RP in a pool and the winner takes it. Learn in Time Trial.

What RPM should I launch at?

About 6000-8000 RPM in manual clutch (M). Do not redline; that spins tires. Details are also on the launch checklist.

When do I use Pettarani instead of Sentul?

When you need a longer top-end test after Sentul is consistent. Pettarani in Makassar punishes gears that peak too soon.

Why do I lose even with a limited bike?

Limited does not equal tuned. Fix the dump and the ladder using gear tuning. Then re-enter Tournament.

Does drag racing pay Robux?

No. Pools and Time Trial pay RP. See how to earn RP for the economy and jobs for off-strip income.
